A college education is one of the most important investments you will ever make — an investment in yourself and your future. You are sure to find that college will be one of the most personally rewarding and demanding challenges you will ever take on, and like most students and parents, you have some concerns about paying for your education.

We believe that, regardless of your income, you have the potential to afford the quality education that the University of Cincinnati provides. We are committed to making your college education as affordable as we can. In fact, nearly all students are eligible for some form of financial assistance.

Financial aid will likely not meet all of your educational costs. But use of financial aid can reduce out-of-pocket expenses you (or your family) may assume while in college.

Key to receiving aid is applying and doing so in a timely manner. Because some aid programs are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, an early application receives priority consideration for limited funding sources. Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after October 1 of each year as possible to apply for aid for the upcoming academic year.

This Website provides detailed information to help you seek out answers to questions, check your status, understand issues surrounding offered aid, and plan for your college costs.

Your future is exciting! The Student Financial Aid Office is excited to be part of it and help you achieve your educational goals.

    Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Office will be closed from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. every 2 nd and 4 th Friday starting October 13, 2017.

Live chat with the LSC Financial Aid Department is available Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Financial aid helps students and their families pay for college. This financial assistance covers educational expenses including tuition, fees, books, and supplies. There are several types of financial aid that may be combined into your financial aid package.

To receive financial aid, you must complete LSC’s 3-Step process:

    Types of Financial Aid

There are several types of financial aid available to LSC students and financial aid packages may include more than one type of award.*

A grant is money set aside by both the state of Texas and the federal government for students who need it to pay for college. Grants are often called “gift aid” because they do not need to be repaid.

Scholarships are awarded on various criteria usually reflecting the values and purposes of the donor of the award.

Scholarships can be based on merit, need, demographics, or career focus. Scholarships are often called “gift aid” because they do not need to be repaid.

Financial aid is available to students receiving VA educational assistance. VA Financial Aid Counselors will assist you with scholarships, grants, loans, Hazlewood Act, Active Duty Military Tuition Assistance, and National Guard Tuition Assistance.

A student loan is designed to help students pay for tuition, books, and living expenses. Student Loans must be repaid.

Usually, student loans will have a substantially lower interest rate and the repayment schedule may be deferred while the student is in higher education.

Federal and State Work-Study Program provide jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay educational expenses.

    Financial aid loans

Workforce scholarships, provided through Workforce Solutions, allow students to obtain the skills needed to successfully reenter the workforce.

The scholarships cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other related costs for individuals who enroll in one of the training programs on the Gulf Coast Workforce Board’s High-Skill, High-Growth Occupations list.

If you are majoring in one of the following degree plans, you may be eligible to receive a $2,500 scholarship towards your tuition based on your self-declared major. Presently, scholarships are available for LSC students who are in one of the following instructional programs:

    • Computer Information Sciences, Engineering (AS)
    • Engineering Technology, Biological Sciences (AS)
    • Dental Hygiene (AAS)
    • Allied Health and Medical Assistant
    • Allied Health Diagnostic
    • Nursing is not an eligible field based on grant

*The combined total of all awards must not exceed a student’s cost of attendance (COA). If a student’s financial aid package exceeds his/her COA, awards will be adjusted according to federal, state, and institutional guidelines.

    Book Advances

Book Advances allow students to use a portion of their anticipated financial aid to purchase textbooks and supplies from any business.

Book advances are not free or additional funds and can be used for educational expenses only.

    Financial Aid Workshops

    Financial aid loans

Figuring out the right financial aid package can be confusing. Don’t worry – we offer financial aid workshops that walk you through every step of the process.

    Satisfactory Academic Progress

All students must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements to receive financial aid at LSC. Federal regulations require all financial aid recipients to maintain SAP in a course of study leading toward a college degree, certificate, or educational objective.

    Tuition Fees

Attending LSC is an affordable option for most students. Our tuition rates are based on residency and if you need help footing the bill, financial aid is available to most students. And so are payment plans!

    Financial Aid Forms

If you are applying for state grants or requesting a Professional Judgment, you will need to submit additional forms to complete the process.
