    Was haben Apotheker eigentlich mit Jägern zu tun? Mehr als man denkt. Berufs- und Hobbyjäger benötigen nämlich regelmäßig Wasserstoffperoxid, um Gehörne zu bleichen. Seitdem in der Chemikalienverordnung die Abgabe von 30-prozentigem Wasserstoffperoxid verboten wurde, haben zumindest Hobbyjäger ein Problem. Der Jagdverband verlangt nun Änderungen von der Politik. Ein Graumarkt droht sich zu entwickeln.

    Jägern in Deutschland fällt es derzeit schwer, an 30-prozentiges Wasserstoffperoxid zu kommen. Grund dafür ist eine Änderung an der Chemikalien-Verbotsverordnung (ChemVerbotsV), die Ende Januar 2017 in Kraft trat. Weil der Stoff immer wieder auch zur Sprengstoffherstellung genutzt wurde, hat der Gesetzgeber eine Ausnahmeregelung gestrichen, nach der 30-prozentiges Wasserstoffperoxid über Apotheken abgegeben werden darf. Nun greift also automatisch die sogenannte EU-Explosivgrundstoffverordnung, in der ein Abgabeverbot von Wasserstoffperoxidlösungen mit einem Massegehalt von über zwölf Prozent an Mitglieder der Allgemeinheit verankert ist.

    Eine kleine Neuregelung mit großer Wirkung – zumindest für die Jäger. Aber warum benötigen die Jäger die Lösung eigentlich? Ein Sprecher des bayerischen Jagdverbandes erklärt gegenüber DAZ.online: „Das Thema beschäftigt uns natürlich sehr. Es betrifft zwar nicht unmittelbar die Ausübung der Jagd, aber die behördliche Verpflichtung bei Hegeschauen, die erlegten Schädel zu präsentieren, und natürlich die Tradition und das Brauchtum, wo ein sauber gebleichter Schädel natürlich auch den Respekt vor dem erlegten Tier demonstriert.“

    Jagdverband: Mit 12-prozentiger Lösung können wir nicht bleichen

    Der Verbandssprecher erklärt auch, warum sich die Jäger nicht mit der 12-prozentigen Lösung zufrieden geben wollen: „Mit der 30-prozentigen Wasserstoffperoxid-Lösung ist das Bleichen des männlichen Schalenwildes, das wir verpflichtend bei den öffentlichen Hegeschauen in Bayern vorzeigen müssen, bestens möglich. Aus praktischen und Hygienegründen ist das für die Jagd in Bayern sehr wichtig. Die 12-prozentige Lösung wurde durch einige Jäger getestet. Das Feedback war durchweg sehr negativ, das heißt ein fachgerechtes einwandfreies Bleichen ist laut deren Aussage mit dieser Konzentration nicht oder nur sehr schwer möglich.“

    It’s hard to beat the thrill of jumping behind the wheel of a new car at the North American International Auto Show, especially if your clunker is already 9 or 10 years old.

    But how exciting is a car loan? Just itching for another monthly payment? Yeah, right.

    The hot news about car loans this year, though, is that rates are lower than last year — so shopping around for car loan could prove invigorating when you snag a real deal.

    “We’ve never seen rates this low” in the surveys of banks and credit unions, said Greg McBride, senior financial analyst at Bankrate.com .

    Bargain car loan rates — both for used and new cars — are hovering around 3% or so now at banks and credit unions.

    Plenty of carmakers are offering 0% and 1.9% financing on several models, too. But make sure to run the numbers on various online calculators to determine whether you’d be better off taking a cash-back rebate than 0% financing, if given a choice.

    In mid-January, the average new car loan rate was 4.15% for a five-year new car loan at banks and credit unions surveyed by Bankrate.com .

    The average used car loan rate was 4.77% for a four-year used car loan, according to Bankrate.com.

    “We’re in a prolonged low-rate environment, and I don’t think they’ve bottomed yet,” McBride said.

    Another trend: Some lenders are offering new car loans that go beyond five years, say 72-months, and a few are rolling out 84-month car loans.

    Comerica’s 3.99% rate, for example, applies to 60-month and 72-month car loans.

    Melinda Zabritski, director of automotive credit for Experian, said some consumers with lower credit scores can qualify for a more expensive new car if they opt for a six-year loan instead of five years.

    Some consumers with higher scores opt for seven-year car loans to buy luxury brands, she said.

    “A lot of it is an effort to make some expensive vehicles a little more affordable on a month-to-month basis,” Zabritski said.

    Be warned, though: Dragging out a car loan to six or seven years drives up total interest paid for a car; and a consumer risks owing more on the car than it’s worth when it comes time to sell.

    Another warning: If you don’t shop around for a car loan rate, though, it’s easier to get taken for a ride on rates.

    “We see greater disparity in auto loan rates than any other product,” McBride said.

    Lenders often decide what kind of market share they want in the auto loan business and price their car loans accordingly. And yes, many realize that consumers don’t shop for car loans as diligently as they should.

    Does that mean everyone gets a car loan at less than 5%? Absolutely not. Rates vary by credit history.

    The Detroit-based Communicating Arts Credit Union had received an initial $1.5 million federal grant in November 2011 to develop a bailout program for people who have extremely high car loan rates.

    As part of that program, the credit union had 34 auto bailouts that had original car loan rates in excess of 19%. One customer refinanced a rate of 25% to 3.25%.Other customers refinanced rates of nearly 25% to a range of 9.5% to 12.5%.

    Going to 5% from 25% would drop the monthly payment to $188.71 from $293.51 on a five-year, $10,000 car loan.

    Hank Hubbard, president and CEO of the Communicating Arts Credit Union, said many times shoppers don’t realize they have alternatives. Some old loans may have been made during the credit crunch.

    We’ve swung from one extreme where anyone could get a car loan during the economic boom to another extreme where lenders were paranoid about making loans to creditworthy consumers during the financial meltdown.

    Now, “Lenders are certainly making loans available,” Experian’s Zabritski said.

    Typically, Toprak said, someone with a 620 credit score could be getting a rate of 8.9% or higher now; while someone with a 500 credit score could be offered 13.9% now.

    Because the mortgage rate makes a big difference in how much you’ll pay for your home, it makes financial sense to shop around for the lowest rate you can qualify for. Here are the five steps to take.

    1. Get Your Credit Score .

    Lenders will use your credit score to help determine if you qualify for a loan and what rate you’ll be charged. In general, the higher your credit score, the better the mortgage you’ll be offered. It’s a good idea to get a copy of your credit report at least six months before you plan on shopping for a mortgage so you have time to find and fix any errors (your own credit inquiry should not count against your credit score).

Ask the lender to write down all the costs associated with the loan – interest rate, fees, points – and then find out if it will waive or reduce any of the fees or offer you a lower interest rate (or fewer points). You can also ask if the lender will offer you better terms than you’ve found elsewhere. Once you are happy, ask for a written lock-in that includes the rate you agreed upon, the period the lock-in lasts and the number of points (if any) to be paid.

    It’s hard to beat the thrill of jumping behind the wheel of a new car at the North American International Auto Show, especially if your clunker is already 9 or 10 years old.

    But how exciting is a car loan? Just itching for another monthly payment? Yeah, right.

    The hot news about car loans this year, though, is that rates are lower than last year — so shopping around for car loan could prove invigorating when you snag a real deal.

    “We’ve never seen rates this low” in the surveys of banks and credit unions, said Greg McBride, senior financial analyst at Bankrate.com .

    Bargain car loan rates — both for used and new cars — are hovering around 3% or so now at banks and credit unions.

    Plenty of carmakers are offering 0% and 1.9% financing on several models, too. But make sure to run the numbers on various online calculators to determine whether you’d be better off taking a cash-back rebate than 0% financing, if given a choice.

    In mid-January, the average new car loan rate was 4.15% for a five-year new car loan at banks and credit unions surveyed by Bankrate.com .

    The average used car loan rate was 4.77% for a four-year used car loan, according to Bankrate.com.

    “We’re in a prolonged low-rate environment, and I don’t think they’ve bottomed yet,” McBride said.

    Another trend: Some lenders are offering new car loans that go beyond five years, say 72-months, and a few are rolling out 84-month car loans.

    Comerica’s 3.99% rate, for example, applies to 60-month and 72-month car loans.

    Melinda Zabritski, director of automotive credit for Experian, said some consumers with lower credit scores can qualify for a more expensive new car if they opt for a six-year loan instead of five years.

    Some consumers with higher scores opt for seven-year car loans to buy luxury brands, she said.

    “A lot of it is an effort to make some expensive vehicles a little more affordable on a month-to-month basis,” Zabritski said.

    Be warned, though: Dragging out a car loan to six or seven years drives up total interest paid for a car; and a consumer risks owing more on the car than it’s worth when it comes time to sell.

    Another warning: If you don’t shop around for a car loan rate, though, it’s easier to get taken for a ride on rates.

    “We see greater disparity in auto loan rates than any other product,” McBride said.

    Lenders often decide what kind of market share they want in the auto loan business and price their car loans accordingly. And yes, many realize that consumers don’t shop for car loans as diligently as they should.

    Does that mean everyone gets a car loan at less than 5%? Absolutely not. Rates vary by credit history.

    The Detroit-based Communicating Arts Credit Union had received an initial $1.5 million federal grant in November 2011 to develop a bailout program for people who have extremely high car loan rates.

    Prospective homebuyers spend plenty of time looking for just the right house, but nearly half fail to shop for a mortgage. That mistake could cost the typical consumer thousands — even tens of thousands — of dollars over time.

    A recent survey by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau found that three out of four consumers apply for a loan with only a single lender, rather than applying with multiple lenders to see which one might offer the best deal. Nearly as many said their main source of information about home loans was the mortgage lender or broker, which obviously has a financial interest in selling you a loan.

    Meanwhile, interest rates and fees can vary dramatically from one lender to the next. And even seemingly small differences can add up to thousands of dollars over time. Consider a homeowner who takes out a $350,000 loan. If he secures a 30-year mortgage at 3.75 percent interest instead of 4.25 percent, he’ll pay roughly $100 less per month, or $36,000 less over the life of the loan.

The same should be true when choosing among possible mortgage loans,” said Richard Cordray, director of the CFPB in a statement. “You are literally betting the house on the choices you are making, and it can be highly beneficial to shop around.”

    So what do you need to be aware of to get the best deal on a mortgage?

    Know your score: Your credit score determines whether you get the best loan rate, and even whether you can borrow at all. According to the CFPB’s new “Owing a home” calculator, a borrower with a credit score of 650 would find relatively few lenders vying for his business and most would lend at a 4.5 percent rate. If this same borrower had a credit score of 750, he or she would be able to borrow at a 3.625 percent rate in today’s market. This difference in rates amounts to about $50 per month per $100,000 borrowed. Thus the monthly mortgage on a $100,000 loan would be $456 for the borrower with great credit and $507 for the borrower with marginal credit.

    Consumers can check their credit score for free at CreditKarma. If your score isn’t high enough to qualify for a favorable rate, you might want to examine what’s pulling your score down and address those issues before attempting to buy a home.

    Decide on terms: One of the main reasons mortgage shopping seems complex is that there are dozens of different types, including fixed, adjustable and hybrid loans. The right type of mortgage will depend on how long you’re likely to own the home and what you can afford.

    The most common products are 30-year fixed-rate loans, 15-year fixed-rate loans and so-called 5/1 adjustable-rate loans.

    Adjustable loans are the lowest cost, starting at 2.625 percent in today’s market, according to BankRate.com. That would amount to a $803 monthly payment for someone taking out a $200,000 loan. The potential problem with this type of loan is that both the interest rate and the payment can rise after the fifth year — and every year after that — until it hits the lifetime cap, which is usually 5 or 6 percentage points above the initial rate.

    In this case, that means the loan rate could go as high as 8.625 percent, which would nearly double the monthly payment. However, for those likely to stay in the home for five years or less, this loan is likely to be the lowest cost.

So to make sure you’re making apples-to-apples comparisons, look to see whether each loan includes points and insist that every lender provide a “no-point” rate and a rate with an equal number of points.

    Beware fees: Lenders also vary greatly in how much they charge in fees. Some rate-shopping sites, such as Bankrate.com. will include fee estimates in rate comparisons. And all lenders must provide a “good faith estimate” of their final fees and charges when you start the loan process. Since these fees and charges can also add to thousands of dollars, be sure to compare the estimates — and ask about anything that seems amiss — before you sign for a loan.

    Start shopping: There are many ways to hunt of for a mortgage. You can hire a mortgage broker to shop for you, use a rate-shopping site or simply start calling lenders. Or, ideally, do all three.     1. Get Your Credit Score .

    Lenders will use your credit score to help determine if you qualify for a loan and what rate you’ll be charged. In general, the higher your credit score, the better the mortgage you’ll be offered. It’s a good idea to get a copy of your credit report at least six months before you plan on shopping for a mortgage so you have time to find and fix any errors (your own credit inquiry should not count against your credit score).

    Once you start shopping, each lender you contact will want to pull your report. While you may have heard that it will lower your credit rating each time a lender makes a credit inquiry, you can limit any dings to your credit by doing your shopping within a focused period of time. Credit agencies recognize that shopping for a mortgage results in a single loan (and not multiple new lines of credit). The FICO Score. for example, disregards multiple inquires when they happen within a 45-day window; other agencies have a 14-45 day window.

    2. Consider Mortgage Types.

    Before you shop, determine how much you want to borrow, which type of mortgage you want and how long a term you need so that you can fairly compare lenders. Three basic mortgage types include:

    • Fixed-rate mortgage. A fixed-rate (or “plain vanilla”) mortgage is a conventional loan that has a set (or fixed) rate of interest for the entire loan term, allowing you to spread out the costs of your home purchase over time while making predictable payments each month. Fixed-rate loans are ideal for buyers who have steady sources of predictable income and who intend to own their homes for extended periods of time.
    • Adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM). An adjustable-rate mortgage (also called variable-rate or floating-rate) is a conventional loan with an interest rate that changes periodically, usually in relation to an index. The introductory rate (the teaser rate) is often lower than the rate available on a fixed-rate mortgage, but the rate may change at any time after the introductory period, resulting in sometimes sizable increases in your monthly mortgage payment. Adjustable-rate loans are typically the recommended option for buyers who anticipate declining interest rates (to avoid being locked into a higher rate), who plan on living in the home for a limited number of years or who expect to pay off the loan before the interest-rate adjustment period is reached.
    • FHA (Federal Housing Administration). Many first-time homebuyers can qualify for FHA loans. These typically have less rigid borrowing requirements with low down payments. reasonable credit expectations and more flexible income requirements. A home financed with FHA loans must be the borrower’s primary residence and must be owner-occupied (no investment or rental properties).

    3. Contact Several Lenders.

    Mortgage loans are available from several types of lenders – thrift institutions. commercial banks. mortgage companies and credit unions – and you can shop online, by phone or in person. To find lenders and look up rates:

    • Try an Internet search for “[your city, state] mortgage.”
    • Compare rate averages at financial information aggregators l www.bankrate.com .
    • Visit a real estate database website such as www.zillow.com. www.trulia.com or www.realtor.com. and enter your zip code in the mortgage page.
    • Visit direct lender sites such as www.bankofamerica.com or www.chase.com .

    Interest rates fluctuate, and different lenders may offer promotions for certain loan products. You’ll likely receive a different quote from each lender, so you’ll have to shop around to find the best deal. To keep the comparisons fair (apples to apples), provide each lender with the exact same information and make sure you are asking about the same loan: for example, a $250,000 30-year fixed-rate loan with no points.

    Remember to compare longer and shorter terms – a 15-year mortgage may have a higher interest rate and monthly payments, but cost significantly less in the long run because you have 15 fewer years of interest payments.

    You can also work with a mortgage broker who finds a lender for you and arranges the transaction (note: brokers will contact multiple lenders on your behalf, but they are not obligated to find the best deal for you unless they are under contract to act as your agent). Some financial institutions act as both lenders and brokers. Since brokers are typically paid a fee for their services in addition to the lender’s origination or other fees, it’s important to find out if a broker is involved – so ask if you’re unsure.

    4. Add in the Additional Costs.

    The lowest advertised interest rate may not necessarily be the best option since fees can significantly drive up the cost of a mortgage. In general, a mortgage with higher fees will have a lower interest rate, but it’s important to ask about loan origination or underwriting fees, broker fees, and settlement or closing costs. Some fees are paid when you apply for a loan (i.e. the application and appraisal fees), while others are settled at closing. Ask the lender which fees you will be charged and what each fee covers.

    Points. Points are fees paid to the lender (or broker) and are typically linked to the interest rate: The more points you pay, the lower your interest rate. One point costs 1% of the loan amount and reduces your interest rate by about 0.25%. To find out how much you’ll actually end up paying, ask for points to be quoted as a dollar amount instead of just the number of points.     A recent survey by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau found that three out of four consumers apply for a loan with only a single lender, rather than applying with multiple lenders to see which one might offer the best deal. Nearly as many said their main source of information about home loans was the mortgage lender or broker, which obviously has a financial interest in selling you a loan.

    Meanwhile, interest rates and fees can vary dramatically from one lender to the next. And even seemingly small differences can add up to thousands of dollars over time. Consider a homeowner who takes out a $350,000 loan. If he secures a 30-year mortgage at 3.75 percent interest instead of 4.25 percent, he’ll pay roughly $100 less per month, or $36,000 less over the life of the loan.

    It’s estimated that one million Americans walked away from homes “underwater” or worth less than their mortgages even though they could afford th.

    “Consumers spend considerable time looking at different neighborhoods and at different homes for sale. The same should be true when choosing among possible mortgage loans,” said Richard Cordray, director of the CFPB in a statement. “You are literally betting the house on the choices you are making, and it can be highly beneficial to shop around.”

    So what do you need to be aware of to get the best deal on a mortgage?

    Know your score: Your credit score determines whether you get the best loan rate, and even whether you can borrow at all. According to the CFPB’s new “Owing a home” calculator, a borrower with a credit score of 650 would find relatively few lenders vying for his business and most would lend at a 4.5 percent rate. If this same borrower had a credit score of 750, he or she would be able to borrow at a 3.625 percent rate in today’s market. This difference in rates amounts to about $50 per month per $100,000 borrowed. Thus the monthly mortgage on a $100,000 loan would be $456 for the borrower with great credit and $507 for the borrower with marginal credit.

    Consumers can check their credit score for free at CreditKarma. If your score isn’t high enough to qualify for a favorable rate, you might want to examine what’s pulling your score down and address those issues before attempting to buy a home.

    Decide on terms: One of the main reasons mortgage shopping seems complex is that there are dozens of different types, including fixed, adjustable and hybrid loans. The right type of mortgage will depend on how long you’re likely to own the home and what you can afford.

    The most common products are 30-year fixed-rate loans, 15-year fixed-rate loans and so-called 5/1 adjustable-rate loans.

    Adjustable loans are the lowest cost, starting at 2.625 percent in today’s market, according to BankRate.com. That would amount to a $803 monthly payment for someone taking out a $200,000 loan. The potential problem with this type of loan is that both the interest rate and the payment can rise after the fifth year — and every year after that — until it hits the lifetime cap, which is usually 5 or 6 percentage points above the initial rate.

    In this case, that means the loan rate could go as high as 8.625 percent, which would nearly double the monthly payment. However, for those likely to stay in the home for five years or less, this loan is likely to be the lowest cost.

It’s not a bad deal to pay points if you’re planning to be in the home for a long stretch and like the idea of buying down the rate. However, not all lenders charge points. So to make sure you’re making apples-to-apples comparisons, look to see whether each loan includes points and insist that every lender provide a “no-point” rate and a rate with an equal number of points.

    Beware fees: Lenders also vary greatly in how much they charge in fees. Some rate-shopping sites, such as Bankrate.com. will include fee estimates in rate comparisons. And all lenders must provide a “good faith estimate” of their final fees and charges when you start the loan process. Since these fees and charges can also add to thousands of dollars, be sure to compare the estimates — and ask about anything that seems amiss — before you sign for a loan.

    It’s hard to beat the thrill of jumping behind the wheel of a new car at the North American International Auto Show, especially if your clunker is already 9 or 10 years old.

    But how exciting is a car loan? Just itching for another monthly payment? Yeah, right.

    The hot news about car loans this year, though, is that rates are lower than last year — so shopping around for car loan could prove invigorating when you snag a real deal.

    “We’ve never seen rates this low” in the surveys of banks and credit unions, said Greg McBride, senior financial analyst at Bankrate.com .

    Bargain car loan rates — both for used and new cars — are hovering around 3% or so now at banks and credit unions.

    Plenty of carmakers are offering 0% and 1.9% financing on several models, too. But make sure to run the numbers on various online calculators to determine whether you’d be better off taking a cash-back rebate than 0% financing, if given a choice.

    In mid-January, the average new car loan rate was 4.15% for a five-year new car loan at banks and credit unions surveyed by Bankrate.com .

    The average used car loan rate was 4.77% for a four-year used car loan, according to Bankrate.com.

    “We’re in a prolonged low-rate environment, and I don’t think they’ve bottomed yet,” McBride said.

    Another trend: Some lenders are offering new car loans that go beyond five years, say 72-months, and a few are rolling out 84-month car loans.

    Comerica’s 3.99% rate, for example, applies to 60-month and 72-month car loans.

    Melinda Zabritski, director of automotive credit for Experian, said some consumers with lower credit scores can qualify for a more expensive new car if they opt for a six-year loan instead of five years.

    Some consumers with higher scores opt for seven-year car loans to buy luxury brands, she said.

    “A lot of it is an effort to make some expensive vehicles a little more affordable on a month-to-month basis,” Zabritski said.

    Be warned, though: Dragging out a car loan to six or seven years drives up total interest paid for a car; and a consumer risks owing more on the car than it’s worth when it comes time to sell.

    Another warning: If you don’t shop around for a car loan rate, though, it’s easier to get taken for a ride on rates.

    “We see greater disparity in auto loan rates than any other product,” McBride said.

    Lenders often decide what kind of market share they want in the auto loan business and price their car loans accordingly. And yes, many realize that consumers don’t shop for car loans as diligently as they should.

    Does that mean everyone gets a car loan at less than 5%? Absolutely not. Rates vary by credit history.

    The Detroit-based Communicating Arts Credit Union had received an initial $1.5 million federal grant in November 2011 to develop a bailout program for people who have extremely high car loan rates.

    As part of that program, the credit union had 34 auto bailouts that had original car loan rates in excess of 19%. One customer refinanced a rate of 25% to 3.25%.Other customers refinanced rates of nearly 25% to a range of 9.5% to 12.5%.

    Going to 5% from 25% would drop the monthly payment to $188.71 from $293.51 on a five-year, $10,000 car loan.

    Hank Hubbard, president and CEO of the Communicating Arts Credit Union, said many times shoppers don’t realize they have alternatives. Some old loans may have been made during the credit crunch.

    We’ve swung from one extreme where anyone could get a car loan during the economic boom to another extreme where lenders were paranoid about making loans to creditworthy consumers during the financial meltdown.

    Now, “Lenders are certainly making loans available,” Experian’s Zabritski said.

    Typically, Toprak said, someone with a 620 credit score could be getting a rate of 8.9% or higher now; while someone with a 500 credit score could be offered 13.9% now.
